Grand Bahama, The Bahamas – The Ministry for Grand Bahama's Collab Unit is thrilled to announce the launch of WelComing Home, a week-long celebration packed with exciting events, culminating in the celebration of the nation's 51st Anniversary of Independence. This series of events is designed to inspire Grand Bahamians across the diaspora and those at home to embrace the spirit of unity, resilience, and hope.
Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger M. Moxey, expressed her excitement about the upcoming events: “WelComing Home is a celebration of our strength, our culture, and our community spirit. It is a testament to the resilience of Grand Bahama and a reminder of the incredible opportunities that await us. I invite everyone to join us as we celebrate our rich history and look forward to a brighter future together.”
Chevonia McBride, Lead Projects Officer, added, “This series of events has been thoughtfully curated to showcase the best of Grand Bahama. From cultural festivals to road races, we have something for everyone. We are excited to see the community come together to celebrate and support each other during these festivities.”

Wednesday, July 3rd: Down By The Fish Fry at Smiths Point | Kick off the celebrations with a Battle of the DJs – Bahamian Edition. Enjoy great music, delicious Bahamian food, and a lively atmosphere. |
Thursday, July 4th: Summer Goombay Festival at Taino Beach | Experience the vibrant energy of Junkanoo with the Grand Rush Junkanoo All-Stars. This festival will be a feast for the senses, showcasing the best of our culture and traditions. |
Friday, July 5th: The Grand Expo on the Great Lawn at the Grand Lucayan | Showcase the incredible opportunities available on our island and encourage Grand Bahamians to come back home. A day of networking, inspiration, and celebration of local talents and businesses. |
Friday, July 5th: The Reunion 2: Old School Party presented by DaRiddim at the Grand Lucayan Resort | Dance the night away with classic hits and reconnect with old friends at this nostalgic event, bringing the community together through music and memories. |
Saturday, July 6th: The Grand Road Race and The Grand Cultural Festival | Participate in a family-friendly road race in the morning and enjoy the Grand Cultural Festival in Downtown Freeport in the evening, featuring top Bahamian artists and authentic cuisine. |
