The Ministry for Grand Bahama held a pivotal orientation session for its Summer Youth Employment Program, bringing together registered students for the upcoming summer cohorts. This orientation was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and operational guidelines for their diverse positions over the next four weeks.
The Honourable Ginger M. Moxey, M.P., Minister for Grand Bahama, was in attendance to warmly welcome each participant. She emphasized the invaluable opportunity this program presents for acquiring new skills, enjoying the experience, and excelling in their assigned duties. Minister Moxey spoke passionately from her personal story, encouraging students not to despise small beginnings, as these can lead to significant opportunities.
“Out of many, you were chosen,” Minister Moxey said. “This is a chance for you to gain real-world experience, develop essential skills, and contribute to our community’s growth and innovation. Embrace this journey with dedication and enthusiasm, and remember that every small step can lead to major achievements.”
The Summer Youth Employment Program has seen tremendous support from the community, with over 100 companies participating and 300 students enrolled in each cohort. The first cohort begins on July 1, followed by the second cohort on August 2. The program is set to provide valuable work experience across a variety of disciplines, ensuring a well-rounded development for all participants.
At the session students were provided with their official job packets, equipping them with all the necessary information and tools to begin their work assignments. The excitement was palpable as the students, eager to start, prepared to begin their roles as early as Monday morning.
The Ministry for Grand Bahama extends its best wishes to all participating students, encouraging them to make the most of this opportunity and strive for success in their respective positions.
