Dear Residents of Grand Bahama,

As the Bahamas Department of Meteorology closely monitors the track of Hurricane Milton, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you. We know the strength and resilience of our island community, but we also know the impact and immense challenges that a storm like this can bring. Now is the time for us to prepare.

Please pay attention to the official updates from the Bahamas Department of Meteorology, and make sure you and your loved ones have everything you need—emergency supplies, a safe shelter, and a solid plan. If you live in a flood-prone area or a home that may not withstand the storm, please don't hesitate to move to safer ground. Your safety is the top priority.

We are a community that has weathered storms before, and we will get through this one too. Lean on one another, help your neighbors, and remember you are not alone. Together, we can face this challenge with courage and strength.

Stay safe, stay informed, and let’s prepare for what may come. We are stronger together.

With love, Hon. Ginger M. Moxey, M.P.

Keep a List of Emergency Contacts

- Local shelters

Save this list on your phone AND keep a physical copy in case of power loss!

Protect Your Documents

Store important documents like passports, insurance papers, and medical records in a waterproof container. Having copies of these documents will make recovery easier if a storm causes damage.

Stay Indoors & Stay Safe

Once the storm arrives, it’s crucial to stay inside and away from windows. Do not venture outside until officials give the all-clear, even if it seems calm. The eye of the storm can pass quickly!

Stay Cautious After the Storm

After the storm passes, be careful when going outside. Watch out for fallen power lines, damaged buildings, and flooding. Avoid driving through flooded roads! Safety is our priority as we begin recovery.
